Summary A patient first shown by conventional cytogenetic techniques to be 46,XY,6p-was secondarily shown by the new banding techniques to be 46,XY,t(6;7) (p12;q32), del (7) (q32). A second patient, born to a 46,XX,t(7;9) (q35;p13) mother, was shown to be 46,XX,-7,+der(7) mat. Both patients have a 50% decrease in factor XII or the Hageman factor. It is proposed that the structural gene (or a structural gene) for the Hageman factor is localized on the distal segment of 7q, probably the 7q35 band. The locus would then be syntenic to the MPI, PK-3, Hex A, and Jk loci.
