    Description / Table of Contents: Summary Deficits in current approaches of psychosomatic and psychiatric education for general practitioners are reviewed. A skill-based training was developed in line with the four step counceling approach of the „PLISSIT” approach: The GP helps in first step („permission”) the patient to accept his problem and assesses informations about causing and maintaining factors of his symptomatology. In the second step he should provide information about the disorder and reverse misunderstanding and passivity (Limited Information). The GP’s should develop preliminary strategies for change in the third step („coping strategies”, „symptom management”; „special suggestions”) and preparate the intensive phase of therapy as the last step. First results of the evaluation of the training program are presented demonstrate the effectiveness and acceptance of the education programm.
    Notes: Zusammenfassung Ausgehend von einer Analyse der Schwächen aktueller Ansätze der psychosomatischen Grundversorgung wird einerseits ein Ansatz vorgestellt, der störungsspezifisch im Rahmen eines Mehrebenenmodells pharmakologische und verbale Intervention aufeinander bezieht. Andererseits werden im Sinne eines zeitökonomisch abgestuften Vorgehens verschiedene Phasen durch das zugrundegelegte PLISSIT-Modell differenziert: In der Permission-Phase geht es um die Akzeptanzvermittlung und Problemanalyse hinsichtlich der vom Patienten geschilderten Beschwerden, in der Phase der „limited information” um die dialogische Erarbeitung eines Störungsmodells und den Aufbau einer aktiven Änderungsmotivation, in der Phase der „special suggestions” erfolgt eine konkrete Anleitung zur Selbstbeobachtung und -protokollierung des Problemverhaltens sowie die Vermittlung von Strategien zum Symptommanagement; in der letzten Phase der „intensive therapy” geht es um die Indikationsstellung und den Motivationsaufbau zur fachärztlichen bzw. fachpsychotherapeutischen Weiterbehandlung. Empirische Ergebnisse zur Evaluation des Weiterbildungskonzeptes an über 200 Teilnehmern werden referiert.

    Notes: Background, aims: Periodontitis is the result of a complex interplay between oral bacteria and the host response, often modulated by behavioral factors. Early-onset periodontitis (EOP) is defined by the age of onset, the distribution of lesions and specific microbial pathogens.Method: Studies in twins suggested a genetic contribution to the pathogenesis of periodontitis. EOP heritable factors may be related to immune mechanisms which could enhance the pathogenic potential of plaque bacteria in susceptible individuals. Among others, Interleukin 4 (IL-4) is a potent cytokine in the immune response and is a potent down regulator of macrophage function. In the present study, we report a specific genotype of the IL-4 gene, which was detected by specific primers and PCR analysis.Results: In the EOP-group 27.8% were IL-4 promotor- and intron polymorphism positive (PP+ and IP+). None of the age-matched healthy controls or patients with adult periodontitis (n=25) carried the markers. Moreover, serum IL-4 levels of PP+ and IP+ patients were below the detection limit and significantly different (p〈0.01) from the IL-4 concentrations of healthy controls and PP− and IP− patients.

    Description / Table of Contents: Abstract При исследовании злектропрводимости серии тройных смесей окислов Fe−Sn−Sb c 5 ат. %-ым содержанием Fe было обнаружено, что железо растворяется в структуре SnO2 в форме ионов железа, тем самым создавая акцепторные центры, компенсирующие допинг эффект ионов Sb5+, растворяющихся одновременно с ним. Таким образом, повышается максимум растворения пятивалентной сурьмы и происходит смещение появления лимита ионов Sb3+ в сторону более высоких содержаний Sb.
    Notes: Abstract The electrical conductivity study of a series of ternary Fe−Sn−Sb mixed oxides with 5 at. % Fe has shown that iron dissolves in the structure of SnO2 as ferric ions and, consequently creates acceptor centers which compensate the doping effect of Sb5+ ions simultaneously dissolved, thus increasing the maximum dissolution of pentavalent antimony and shifting thereby the apparition limit of Sb3+ ions towards higher Sb contents.

    Notes: Summary A two dimensional mathematical model of an interface crack which lies along an elastic inclusion embedded in an elastic matrix with different elastic constants is considered. In contrast to a previous study by Toya, which determined only the displacement of the crack faces for a far-field biaxial load, a formula for theEntire displacement throughout the matrix and inclusion is obtained for a far-field biaxial load. Herrmann [16], which considered a fixed rigid inclusion, and this paper are the first solutions for the entire displacement of an interface crack problem with in plane far-field loading. From this expression for the displacement, a natural decomposition of the problem is identified and the extent of the predicted interpenetration of the crack faces is discussed for each case. It is seen, analogous to a Griffith crack, that interpenetration regions always occur and are large for most mixed far-field loads. This confirms the statement in England [10] that “it might be expected... that a similar wrinkling and crossover phenomena will be observed near the ends of the crack.” This elegant closed-form expression for the displacements throughout both the matrix and the inclusion is of interest either for use as a benchmark for numerical studies of interface problems or to determine a domain of influence for interface cracks in fiber-reinforced and particular composites.

    Notes: Summary The problem of a propagating semi-infinite mode III crack in an infinite inhomogeneous viscoelastic body is analyzed. Inertial effects are included in the equation of motion while the crack is assumed to propagate with a fixed speed. Material inhomogeneity is introduced into the problem by assuming a shear modulus of the formG(t, y)=μ(t) η(y) where |y| denotes the distance measured from the plane of the crak and μ(t) is a positive, nonincreasing, convex function of time. Expressions for the stress and displacement are derived from the solution to the corresponding Riemann-Hilbert problem. A closed form expression is derived for the energy release rate (ERR) when a Barenblatt type failure zone is incorporated into the crack model. Numerical results illustrate the combined effects of viscoelastic properties, material inhomogeneity, and the crack tip failure zone upon the ERR.
