Notes: Abstract This article contains geometrical classification of all fibres in pencils of curves of genus two, which is essentially different from the numerical one given by Ogg ([11]) and Iitaka ([7]). Given a family π:X→D of curves of genus two which is smooth overD′=D−{0}, we define a multivalued holomorphic mapT π fromD′ into the Siegel upper half plane of degree two, and three invariants called “monodromy”, “modulus point” and “degree”. We assert that the family π is completely determined byT π, and its singular fibre by these three invariants. Hence all types of fibres are classified by these invariants and we list them up in a table, which is the main part of this article.

Notes: Summary Cerebral infarctions due to the occlusion of main branches of cerebral arteries, which are manifested after the affection of mild head injuries, are sometimes one of the most difficult problems in order to reconstruct an acculate causality between external events and pathomorphological changes. We have experienced four cases of the cerebral infarction (occlusion of middle cerebral artery) and brain softening, which were provoked after the affection of head injuries. As the preexisting vascular lesions following findings were obtained. One case was the typical thrombus formation on thearteriosclerotic arterial wall, which was injured by head blow. Two cases wereendarteriitis obliterans, which were aggreviated suddenly (intramural hemorrhage in one case and thrombus formation in another one after the affection of mechanical injuries. The last one was the softening of the brain tissue surrounding theintracerebral aneurysma, which was associated with the growth of brain tumor. Chronological examinations of these four cases including pathological changes of the brain tissues, findings of the damaged arteries and their preexisting diseases and also the clinical history of the patients (especially the clinical pathology) coincided exactly each other, so that the acculate causality was reconstructed in each case. The criteria of the reconstruction of the causality in such cases (triad: the accordance of chronological analysis of clinical history, damaged artery and brain tissue) are discussed.

Notes: Summary Japan is more prone to subarachnoid hemorrhage than other nations, with an estimated annual death rate of 25 out of 100 000 population (in white races 20). Subarachnoid hemorrhage constitutes 6.6% of all sudden death cases of Tokyo, a far greater percentage than that of New York (4.7%) and London (4.3%). Women are more liable to subarachnoid hemorrhage, while men are more liable to intracerebral hemorrhage. Problems of causality between contingent trauma and ruptured aneurysm were discussed from medical as well as judicial point of view.

Description / Table of Contents: Zusammenfassung Elektrophoretische Heterogenität der sauren Phosphatase in Prostata.
Notes: Summary Human seminal fluid, when examined by horizontal starchgel electrophoresis using 0.2 M phosphate-acetic acid buffer pH 5.0 and by specific staining of prostatic acid phosphatase (PAP) of the gel using phenolphthalein diphosphate as a substrate, has been proved to show 4 or 5 distinct zones of acid phosphatase activity, thus enabling us the classification of semen into three types, F (fast), S (slow) and 0 (zero), by their patterns of electrophoretic mobility. The frequency of PAP types of unrelated Japanese males is 71.6% S, 15.8% F and 12.6% 0. The typing by this method is independent from the erythrocyte acid phosphatase (EAP) typing. This technique has been proved to be useful in medico-legal practices (in rape cases).

Notes: Abstract In the present paper, with the aid of invariance principles in connection with the scattering matrix, we get the exact solution of diffuse reflection and transmission problems by finite inhomogeneous, anisotropically scattering atmospheres bounded by reflecting sufaces. On making use of the reflection and transmission integral operators, we show how to obtain the non-linear integro-differential equations for these operators, which do not depend on the initial condition. Then, we have a system of the required integro-differential equations for the scattering and transmission functions. The obtained result is new, so far as we know. Finally, using the scattering matrix, we reduce the diffuse reflection and transmission problems for planetary atmospheres with reflecting surfaces to the standard diffuse reflection and transmission problems.

Notes: Abstract For many years, the known vascular complications in Behçet's disease have been attributed to thrombophlebitis, but considerable number of reports has been published in recent years relating to cases with aneurysm and arterial occlusion. We experienced arterial involvements in 6 cases with Behçet's disease up to date. In five, the histological findings of the resected specimens suggested a presence of angiitis derived from the media. Of the vascular changes in Behçet's disease, aneurysm develops relatively in early age of life and is extremely prone to rupture. Therefore, an aggressive surgical approach is mandatory for aneurysm, as soon as the diagnosis of this disease becomes definite. Histological changes of these arteries revealed derangements of the media, particularly of its elastic fibers. Although it is difficult to draw a conclusion at this stage that angiitis is one of the etiological factors of Behçet's disease, etiologic relation of these angiitic changes of unknown origin is discussed from various standpoints of view.
