Notes: Abstract. We determine the gauge invariance classes of tree level Feynman diagrams in spontaneously broken gauge theories, providing a proof for the formalism of gauge and flavor flips. We find new gauge invariance classes in theories with a nonlinearly realized scalar sector. In unitarity gauge, the same gauge invariance classes correspond to a decomposition of the scattering amplitude into pieces that satisfy the relevant Ward identities individually. In theories with a linearly realized scalar sector in $R_\xi$ gauge, no additional non-trivial gauge invariance classes exist compared to the unbroken case.

Notes: Abstract. As we demonstrate in a process independent way, in a non-linear parameterization of the scalar sector of the standard model the Dyson summation of the Higgs self-energy can be performed without violating the Ward identities. This implies also the Goldstone boson equivalence theorem, in the limited range of its validity in effective field theories. This proves an earlier conjecture of Valencia and Willenbrock. Furthermore, the full Higgs propagator is independent of the gauge parameters. These results are consistent with the extension of the “gauge flip” formalism for the construction of gauge invariant classes of Feynman diagrams to loop diagrams. In a non-linear parameterization of a 2-Higgs doublet model, the consistent Dyson summation is possible for all neutral Higgs bosons, but not for the charged scalars. Explicit examples of the equivalence theorem are discussed both in the minimal standard model and a 2-Higgs doublet model.

Notes: The expression of anthocyanin biosynthesis genes during flower colour development in Anthurium andraeanum (anthurium) was studied. A cDNA library was constructed from mRNA from the anthurium spathe, and full-length cDNA clones identified for the flavonoid biosynthetic enzymes chalcone synthase (CHS), flavanone 3-hydroxylase (F3H), dihydroflavonol 4-reductase (DFR) and anthocyanidin synthase (ANS). These were used to measure transcript levels in the spathe during flower development, in cultivars with different flower colours, over the diurnal cycle, and in the spadix. CHS, F3H and ANS were expressed at all stages of spathe and spadix development. However, DFR transcript levels varied significantly between stages, and DFR may represent a key point of regulation. A diurnal rhythm of DFR transcript abundance in the spathe was also observed, with transcript levels high at dawn and dusk and low at noon. Control of anthocyanin biosynthesis in anthurium spathe differs from that described for flowers of other species, with DFR a key regulatory point and a complex mix of developmental and environmental control signals.

Notes: FVIII is a very complex molecule of great therapeutic significance. It is purified by a sequence of chromatographic steps including immunoaffinity chromatography. A peptide affinity chromatography method has been developed using peptides derived from a combinatorial library. Spot technology using cellulose sheets has been applied for this purpose. The dual positional scanning strategy was used for identification of the amino acids in random positions. Approximately 5000 possible candidates found in the first screening round were reduced to a panel of 36. Six candidates have been selected empirically. Five peptides seem to be directed against the light chain of FVIII, one peptide seems to be directed against the heavy chain. The peptides have been immobilized on conventional beaded material and CIM polymethacrylate monoliths. Much better performance with respect to capacity and selectivity has been observed with the monolithic material. Exposure of the ligand and its ensuing accessibility are responsible for these properties.
