    Notes: The introduction of selected fractions from a liquid chromatograph into a gas chromatograph has been described; however, analyses were performed by off-line experiments requiring collection and reinjection of the separate fractions or by on-line procedures where disadvantageously, only a fraction of the separated peak or a well resolved component in a mixture could be introduced into a gas chromatograph. This disadvantage is overcome by the apparatus and method described in this paper, which utilizes a multidimensional chromatography system employing a high efficiency, packed capillary LC column coupled on-line to a capillary gas chromatograph.The liquid chromatograph (so designed) can act as a highly efficient clean-up or chemical class fractionation step prior to introduction into the gas chromatograph, significantly reducing sample preparation times in many applications. Thus minor components in a complex matrix can be determined without prior sample clean-up, an example of which is the determination of polychlorinated biphenyls in a complex hydrocarbon matrix.

    Description / Table of Contents: Zusammenfassung Enzymmuster nach (E)RCP wurden nach Injektion von Kontrastmittel in den GallePankreas-Gang der Ratte untersucht, die alleinige Punktion und Injektion von 0,9%. NaCl dienten als Kontrolle. Die Aktivitäten von Serum Lipase und Amylase waren im Verlauf bei der Kontrastmittelgruppe und der 0,9 % NaCl-Gruppe fast gleich. 4 h post injectionem wurde der Höchstwert der Lipaseaktivität gefunden, Normalwerte zeigten sich nach 24h. Zu diesem Zeitpunkt waren vergleichsweise hohe Amylasewerte feststellbar. Die alleinige Punktion erzeugt ebenfalls eine Enzymentgleisung. Mikromorphologisch zeigten sich ähnliche Befunde wie bei echter experimenteller Pankreatitis, bei geringerer Ausdehnung. Das Kontrastmittel scheint zum Enzymanstieg weniger beizutragen als Druck, Volumen und die Manipulation.
    Notes: Summary Enzyme patterns due to (E)RCP in rats were studied after injection of contrast medium into the bile pancreatic duct; pure cannulation and injection of saline were the controls. The activity of serum lipase and amylase were similar both in saline and contrast medium group. Peaks of lipase were observed 4 h after injection with a spontaneous recovery within 24h. At this time amylase showed comparatively high activities. Pure cannulation also yields increased enzyme levels. Micromorphological examinations showed the same findings as in true experimental pancreatitis, but to a less marked extent. The contrast medium itself does not seem to act on the increase of enzyme activities to such an extent as volume, pressure and manipulation.
